I’m broadly interested in kelp forest ecology and combining science with film to promote conservation. Originally from Seattle, Washington, I’m happiest underwater exploring the temperate coastline. In 2020, I graduated from Whitman College having completed research projects studying coral reef biodiversity and deep-sea fish physiology and anatomy. I joined the Hughes Lab as a research technician and am continuing my work as a MS student studying an interaction network between understory algal species (Desmarestia), bull kelp, and purple urchins. During my time as a graduate student, I published a short film which was featured in the 2022 International Ocean Film Festival and I travelled to Antarctica as a scientific diver to study microbial mats in glacial lakes. After graduating I will begin full time as the Assistant Diving and Boating Safety Officer at UC Davis.
